About

Christianity has made tremendous contributions to the world’s cultural heritage through its theology, philosophy, literature, music, art and more. Technology has created unprecedented opportunities for scholars working in these fields to preserve Christianity’s cultural heritage, expand our knowledge, and make the wealth of these resources available to everyone.

Increasingly, cultural heritage and historical research is being done by interdisciplinary teams that use digital tools to conduct and publish their research. While this trend has many benefits, scholars at smaller universities, Bible colleges and seminaries frequently cannot find the technical support they need to contribute to this work. Christian scholars at small institutions are especially vulnerable to the marginalizing effects of technology.

IDCH is a non-profit organization that provides consulting services to individual researchers and small institutions. At IDCH we specialize in the technical aspects of building cultural heritage digital libraries. That means we focus on planning large digital projects, designing information structures to keep track of (and help people discover) digital content, and writing the software needed to manage research and make it available to the widest possible audience.

By providing scholars with the technical support they need, we come alongside scholars to help them build digital resources that document, develop, and disseminate Christianity’s heritage.
